Class G

This class usually consists of five boys who are very young, about the age of 5, and are autistic. Makaton tends to be used by the TA’s of the class occasionally and the children seem to recognise it well. This is good because their vocal communication is not very effective at all; Pupil 1 can talk using words reasonably well but the others tend to make noises and use the odd word here and there. Pupil 1 is clearly the most physically able as he demonstrates good listening and interpretive skills regularly when performing in PE. The others often require assistance.

Pupil 2 joined the class half way through the duration of my project and is often kept in his chair being pushed. He is encouraged to use his voice, his hands, and comes out the chair sometimes depending on the activities being practiced. He’s never been left out since his arrival despite being a quite boy.
